Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is one of the world’s fastest-growing cities in the world, with over half the population under the age of 20. This has had, and will continue to have, a major impact on the arts.

I have recently been spending a lot of time going to different studios and galleries—most in old villas. A couple of my favorites are LeLa Gallery, Habesha Art Studio, and the Alliance Ethio-Française.

But, as I mentioned, Addis is a young city in regards to demographic breakdown, and I have to say the most interesting concept on the local scene, getting a lot of buzz, is Pop Up Addis. Sara and Zach, recent college grads, organized their first Pop Up in May. Stay tuned for more.
