I love collages, so when I first saw the blog From Brazil, With Love, I figured the artist responsible for all those crazy yet hot and poetic collages could only be Brazilian.
I chased him down on Facebook and found out who he was. Here’s our short Q&A and a selection of his work.
Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Romeu Silveira. I am 24 years old and I live in the south of Brazil. At the moment I work as freelance art director and graphic designer. I have the From Brazil, With Love project where I develop my collage work using images from fashion editorials and ad campaigns. The motto behind the blog is “appropriate to recreate.” This project also works as a laboratory for the work that I develop in my magazine, U+MAG, which I founded in 2004.
What is inspiring you right now in Brazil?
At the moment I am obsessed with visual poetry by Augusto de Campos, and I can say that all the recent demonstrations around the country are very inspiring, too.
