Standing under Levitated Mass by artist Michael Heizer.
I finally made it to see James Turrell: A Retrospective at LACMA.
This had been on my to-do list for a while. With my friend Jeff Leatham in tow, we marveled at these beautiful, shape-shifting works. The first projection, Afrum (White) (1966), was a clean welcome into Turrell’s world. We progressed through glorious and mesmerizing rooms, gasping with surprise and awe upon turning certain corners to bathe in a new colored light. We felt cleansed and inspired!
Oh, and thanks Martin, the GM at Ray’s and Stark Bar, for the refreshing (and delicious) lemonade! And nice to meet the waitress, Kylie, who told me she was named after me!!!
