Since we couldn’t take a honeymoon right after our wedding, as we had to get to Paris for men’s fashion week, we decided that since we would be in Shanghai we might as well go somewhere tropical in Asia. Our friends from Hong Kong suggested Phuket, and they had friends there who owned some insane villas. We stayed for five nights and had the greatest time. Our villa was so beautiful, architecturally, and so zen. We were happy just swimming for hours and watching movies when a flash rain came through. In a world where we barely give ourselves time away from our phones and e-mail, Phuket was the perfect place to relax and go on adventures.
We had a supercool driver who knew all the best spots for riding elephants, waterfall hikes, Rasta beach clubs, authentic food—really anything we wanted, he knew of the perfect place. The elephant ride was really cool, a little scarier than we thought, especially at thirty weeks pregnant! One night we had ringside seats at a big Muay Thai match, which was amazing. Their capes, shorts, and headbands are really special, and we picked up some for ourselves, maybe for Halloween costumes. The city markets at night were interesting to walk through, so many “lady-boys” selling tickets to sex shows, fake Céline bags, and baby monkeys to take pictures with in one place! We definitely want to go back with some friends and family, maybe for the holidays next year. Phuket rules!
