Last Saturday evening, I stopped by a small gallery called Gallery A-Cube near Changseong-dong, Jongno-gu. This gallery was collaborating with Gallery A-Cube in Japan. According to their website, they aim to discover young and promising modern artists.

When I visited the gallery, they were exhibiting the 4th Young Artists’ Exhibition Part 2 with four young talents. Then I found a series of paintings by Yang Chul-min that are his self-portraits made from mixed fashion images and campaigns from the likes of Fendi, Miu Miu, and Bvlgari. He just graduated from art school last year.

I really like to find new talents in the town—surely Chul-min’s works have a little rawness, but they are all about intensity and sheer desire. If you are interested in his paintings, I think you’ll have to go see the exhibition this weekend. It will run through September 8.
