New York fashion week has officially started, and this season it’s with a bit of Danish flavor.

The London-based Danish designer Louise Amstrup is scheduled to show at Milk Studios as part of its Made series on Saturday, September 7, at 7 p.m. One of Danish fashion’s greatest exports, Amstrup worked with Alexander McQueen for three years before venturing out with her own label. She has since showed in both Copenhagen and London—until last season, when she made the transition to New York. I expect nothing less than a spectacular S/S ’14 collection, as I love her universe, her great talent for prints, and her mix of materials that all seem to sum up exactly who she is: a Danish Londoner.

When I asked Amstrup about the inspiration for the new collection, she told me, “The theme is Under the Boardwalk. Imagine a summer set at the California coast with kids hanging out under the boardwalk, losing innocence, the sounds of waves and seagulls, and the funfair upstairs on the pier. Suntanned skin, a first kiss, wearing your boyfriend’s denim jacket.” She is eager to keep the collection under wraps until Saturday, but she shared one of the prints from the new collection [below], and these are some looks from the amazing A/W ’13 collection.
