What do Lenny Bruce, the woman who tried to assassinate Andy Warhol, and I all have in common? We each had extended stays at New York’s Marlton Hotel. Luckily, my visit happened after Sean MacPherson revamped the West Village locale into what looks like the Bowery Hotel’s less-expensive little brother.
With its romantic wood paneling and brushed brass fixtures, the hotel is pretty bare bones, which is quite refreshing. There are no bells and whistles… I’d describe my room as small, bordering on tiny. There wasn’t even a minibar. I loved it. Comfy bed, nice sheets, great bathroom, and a bar in the lobby: What else do you need?
