Yes, the weather has been incredibly dramatic. And nobody likes it when schools are closed because of the cold—except the kids. But I’ve always liked winter weather; when snow is falling it’s an optimistic time (at least until you have to shovel). Those old Lartigue photos of people playing winter sports are so great. Not just skating and skiing, but even folks being pulled on sleds by horses. It’s like they’re inventing ways to have fun. So hopefully we’ll get out of this polar vortex but still enjoy the rest of the winter the way it was supposed to be: outside, just like when we were kids.
