I couldn’t agree more, which is why I have been a regular at Toscanini for years.
To say the chefs there respect the traditions of classic Italian cooking is a wild understatement—they are deeply compassionate. Bread: baked daily at their bakery; pastas: homemade; ingredients: locally sourced. The inherent love makes each dish incomparable.
It’s painful to play favorites with this menu, but lately I love the red beet salad with mozzarella, and ravioli with garden beans in lemon butter.
The icing on the cake—or, more fittingly, blood orange jus on the panna cotta—is the service. They take as great of care of their guests as they do in the kitchen. Add in the homey, no-fuss decor and you could easily mistake the intimate feeling for your own dining room.
After eating here last week with my boys, not only did I feel “well” in all the ways Ms. Woolf mentioned, I felt energized and excited to start on the next issue of Rika magazine and my Spring 2015 collection.
