Vika Gazinskaya is one busy bee.
We first met at the biggest fabric fair you can imagine, then we met again, at the busiest party I can think of. Now the only time we manage to catch up is during the craziest fashion weeks of them all, so her text message letting me know she was in Paris this week was a wonderful surprise.
Obviously, it was another one of her super-short visits—the last time was a twenty-four-hour stop for the LVMH Prize, for which she is one of the six finalists—but we still managed to catch up and put the world to rights.
Along with her, she brought another surprise: her first-ever collaboration, with none other than Swedish giant H&M’s sister brand, & Other Stories.
Vika has been working secretly with them for month, developing a collection of beautiful renditions of some of the most successful pieces of her own brand, with more accessible prices but without losing a bit of her graphic romanticism and pop-couture touches.
The delightful result, which you can discover this week exclusively in the windows of Colette (though the racks may be empty by the time you read these lines), the exact same windows where I first discovered Vika’s work four years ago, in the form of her dreamlike cloud dress.
For the rest of the world, the collection will be available at & Other Stories shops starting May 15.
