As natives of Southern California, Tyson and I love to explore all parts of the state. So we decided to take a quiet drive up the coast and through wine country in beautiful Santa Barbara.
San Ysidro Ranch, a historic luxury hotel in the Montecito foothills, became our romantic hideaway once we reached our destination.
We stayed in a private cottage where many legendary guests once sought a little peace and quiet. Vivien Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier exchanged vows at the ranch, and President John F. Kennedy and his new bride, Jacqueline, spent their honeymoon there.
The ranch holds so much history, with its beautiful mementos and quiet ambience. One of the property’s most treasured keepsakes is the guest register signed by President Kennedy. It was such a treat to be nestled away in this special location.
Nearby at the elegant Four Seasons Hotel you can experience “Romance on the Riviera.” It is a private dining experience at the Coral Casino. A chef treats you to a three-course meal in a cabana overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Santa Barbara, rich in history and destination locations, is definitely a spot you’ll want to stop in while on the road in the Golden State!
