Tell me about Reschia. What is your idea of footwear?
Reschia is a Stockholm-based shoe label that focuses on creating shoes with strong but challenging shapes and close attention to details, quality, and craftsmanship. The brand’s signature style embraces both eccentric ideas and references to bespoke traditions. Contrasting elements added to classic forms—such as hidden seams and merged stitches, leather and skins with interesting surfaces and finishings, and soles with innovative treatments and volume—creates a consistent and recognizable aesthetic that characterize the brand. The shoes are produced with care at selected manufacturers in Florence, Italy. Reschia was founded and is run by the designers Andrea Reschia and Soledad Lowe.
I see a lot of contrasts in the brand and products; does it draw influences from your Argentine-Swedish heritage?
Yes, definitely. Reschia’s design is based on contrasts, which are drawn from our different backgrounds and experiences. We both worked in different countries and cities, such as Italy, Buenos Aires, London, and New York. This is for sure a trigger to a more intricate and open-minded, developed design.
How does one best maintain a proper shoe game with the upcoming season of bad weather and slush on the Stockholm streets?
The slush in Stockholm is inevitable, and even the best-quality shoe material will erode. But a helping hand is a good protective spray and a brush. Never let the slush dry off. It will eat off the leather or suede. Remove it as soon as you can!
