For entertainment value, it’ll be hard to beat Alexis Bryan karaoking Son of a Preacher Man—the party set will recall the Vanity Fair editor’s standout performance from last year’s Art Party. But the Whitney Contemporaries co-chairs—Meredith Melling Burke of Vogue, Roopal Patel, and Philae Knight—think they’ve got a pretty good follow-up for this year’s big fête at Skylight Studios: a laser light show. Joshua White, the trailblazer who dazzled audiences at New York’s Fillmore East with his psychedelic "liquid light" happenings back in the late sixties and seventies, will re-create the light show currently on view at the Whitney’s Summer of Love exhibition tonight. DJ Bec Stupak is collaborating. Far-out.
