While other Europeans rave about New York, the French insist on being different—they inevitably love L.A. Jean Touitou, the designer of A.P.C., likes it so much that he’s opening his second U.S. shop there on Wednesday. In honor of this Gallic line’s first foray into California, we asked Touitou to name his five favorite things about the City of Angels:

1. “The light—it reminds me of my Mediterranean childhood.”

2. “Lisa, Marc, Roman, and Roman.” (That’s Greybull Press co-founder and photographer Lisa Eisner, fashion art director Marc Atlan, Greybull Press co-founder and interior design guru Roman Alonso, and director Roman Coppola.)

3. “Walking down the streets, quietly chilling—there’s a high concentration of ghosts in L.A.”

4. "The modern architecture.”

5. “Chicken in mole sauce.”
