transatlantic burlesque

The Box, the Lower East Side’s celebrated pit of hedonism, crossed the Atlantic on Saturday night and set up shop at Wilton’s Music Hall in London’s East End. There, Jemima Khan, Eugenie Niarchos, Annabel Neilson, Coco Brandolini, Elizabeth Saltzman Walker, and Astrid Muñoz were introduced to the cabaret’s singular brand of entertainment (let’s just say things get fairly graphic). Responses were varied—”I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry at some of that stuff,” Muñoz said later—but one thing was certain: Somebody liked it. The organizers of this event had such a positive response that this one-off performance will likely turn into a monthly event at the East London venue. So, for a good time (or a scary one, depending on how you look at it), keep Wilton’s in mind.
