Designer/sportswear collaborations are nothing new, but computer-scientist/sportswear collaborations? Reebok takes geek chic to a new level with its new Timetanium shoe, whose sleek, linear design is actually a visual expression of a mathematical formula. The brain behind this beauty is John Maeda, a computer scientist, MIT professor, and Esquire magazine "21 Geniuses" award winner, who creates graphics using algorithms and programming codes, specializing in digital media and motion graphics (which makes a running-shoe collaboration seem slightly less strange). And the scrawls on the insole and lining of the shoe? They're Maeda's actual handwritten codes. The Timetanium goes on sale tomorrow for $150, exclusively on Reebok's customization Web site, www.ltd.rbkcustom.com—. Only100 pairs will be sold, however, so if you want a stylish way to wear your inner nerd on the outside, log on early.
