v are the champions

“Honestly, that’s the best way to pack a party with the pretty people,” one attendee at last night’s Gramercy Park Hotel observed. “Just get a supermodel to host it.” The supermodel in question was Gemma Ward, who commandeered all of her genetically blessed friends to come to the costume party she hosted with V magazine at the Rose Bar. Diligently in attendance were Jacquetta Wheeler (who came as the Tin Man from “The Wizard of Oz,” complete with a tin funnel she had picked up at a hardware store), Lisa Cant (Barbie), and Daria Werbowy (whitewashed dead bride). As for Ward herself, she told us she had spent the majority of her day dousing her skin in gold. “It’s not like I haven’t been in a position where I’ve spent hours getting ready or getting my makeup done before,” she sighed. “But let me tell you, this was intense.” Apparently, you can take the supermodels out of a fashion shoot, but you can’t take the fashion out of the supermodel. As Werbowy said outside the Gramercy Park Hotel of her billowing white dress, “This is YSL! I’m dead, but I’m dead chic.” (Editor’s note: Apparently the same is true for makeup artists. James Kaliardos, who was a dead ringer for Karl Lagerfeld last Halloween, came as Donatella Versace, complete with blond locks, dyed eyebrows, and a spray-on tan. We think even La Dona would’ve been impressed with his tiny, corseted waist.)
