vocabulary lesson: 'prece
We've seen words get shortened before: "Totally" became "totes," "obviously" became "obvi," "perfect" became "perf." In keeping with this mincing trend, the newest addition to fashion's abbrieviated lingo is " 'prece." Taken from "appreciate," the term has many uses. For example, if one is complimented on an item of clothing or an accessory, instead of having to go through all the motions of thanking the complimenter or telling them why they should like it even more, one can simply respond " 'prece," which is taken to mean both "I appreciate your compliment" and "Yes, you should appreciate this fine garment." Advanced speakers will follow it up with a brief description of said item. For example, if one were given praise about, say, a Calvin Klein blazer"I like that jacket"an acceptable response would be: " 'Prece. Calvin."
