It’s no secret that stylists and consultants are the key to many a Western designer’s success story, but few people realize that they’re a vital part of the equation all over the world. Tereza Santos, a highlight of São Paulo fashion week, is known for sophisticated commercial collections that have strong elements of experimental knitwear. She’s also quite savvy when it comes to hooking up with fashion talent. Two of her principal collaborators—stylist Hector Castro, just named the creative director of Biba, and breakout London designer Louise Goldin—are both familiar names. The international influence they brought to the cutting table was impressive: Her thirties chiffons and seventies leathers and fringed knits had the kind of polished patina that money can buy.
