Friday, for those of you not up on your Scottish customs, was Burns Night, when Scots around the world celebrate their national poet, Robert Burns, with Burns Suppers (basically an excuse to drink whiskey and recite Rabbie's poetry). In New York, Duncan Quinn hosted one at Soho House. "My father's from Glasgow, and he started the one at Scotland Yard. He's the kind of guy who'll recite 'Tam O' Shanter' at the drop of a hat. So I figured I should carry on the tradition," he explained. Meanwhile, in London, Christopher Kane took on the hosting duties at Harvey Nichols. His father was also a Burns Supper regular, albeit of the traditional gentlemen-only variety. Kane fils, however, had the ladies out in force, including Jasmine Guinness, Claire Forlani, Poppy de Villeneuve, and his sister, Tammy, who wasn't more than three feet away from her sibling all night long. Though proud of his roots, Kane hasn't exactly mined traditional Scottish sartorialism in his collections—or at least not yet. "Funny you ask," he replied when we did. "I'm a big fan of Scottish knits. Watch out—there may be an Aran knit or two in the winter collection."
