hometown girl

Gisele (Bündchen) mania was at a fever pitch last night at the Colcci runway show at Fashion Rio. The catwalker's hometown status as Brazil's fiercest export was in full effect as the packed house stomped and applauded her every exit on a conveyer belt runway. Bündchen has been exclusively contracted to Colcci (a mega Brazilian line that's comparable to Diesel) as the brand ambassadress, and it's the sole Brazilian show she participates in. The six-year-long relationship has even greater importance now that Colcci has announced plans to open over 40 stores across Europe in the next year and several more stores stateside. Bündchen, naturally, will be the international face of the brand. "Gisele represents the sexy, fresh, healthy attitude of the south of Brazil, where she and our company both come from," explains Jessica Lengyel, Colcci's creative director. "The relationship is very special for us." Bündchen is no longer the feature face of Victoria's Secret, but there's no dimming her meteoric profile at home.
