Ferre

The mood backstage at Gianfranco Ferre yesterday was somber, with employees comparing notes on their crying jags. Even the models looked downcast—when Mariacarla Boscono made her lonely finale walk, her eyes were suspiciously red-rimmed. What would it take to perk things up? “Top of
my wish list for Ferré would be Alexander McQueen,” said Antonio Trotto, the house’s haute couture man. “Like Gianfranco, he likes to play with construction and deconstruction. I feel that he would get our legacy without it even needing to be explained.”
