Fashion week can be all-consuming, but every so often it bears noticing that there’s a whole world of stuff going on off the runways. For example: Something called the Super Bowl was played on Sunday. And for heaven’s sake, there are primaries going on! More to the point, however, today marks the release of Hot Chip’s third LP, “Made in the Dark” (Astralwerks). A strong contender for soundtrack-of-your-life status, the record shows off the softer side of Hot Chip, mixing up synthesized dance tracks à la 2006’s irrepressible “Over and Over” with slow dance numbers sad and spare. Maybe that’s got nothing to do with fashion, but hey: You’ve got to have something to listen to while you wait in line to vote, right?
