Designer update

Coincidence, or something more? First Rick Owens sent out coats with so much volume at the back that they looked as if they could’ve been inflated into life rafts. Today, both Martin Margiela and Yohji Yamamoto used rubber for their invitations. Margiela’s is a small white square (mine has a lowercase “t” on it; let’s hope that doesn’t mean the 20th row). Yamamoto’s is much larger, black, and shaped like an hourglass dress mannequin. More on their collections—and maybe the meaning of all this stretchy stuff—early tomorrow morning.
