L.A. designer Raven Kauffman has taken the art of the bag to new heights with her collection of feathered, beaded, and bejeweled oversize clutches. Inspired by the Marchesa Luisa Casati, Kauffman uses rare and exotic trims (think singed peacock-breast feathers and beetle wings) and the finest skins and textiles. "After a very vivid dream last year, I woke up at 4 a.m. and sketched the entire collection in an hour," says Kauffman, a lifestyle consultant who used to do marketing for Gucci and Donna Karan. "There's something so chic about a clutch because they're like pieces of art that you can hold and interact with." Raven Kauffman Couture clutches are priced from $1,250 and are available at Maxfield, Rose Ark, and Des Kohan, all in Los Angeles.
