dress circle

Some young designers are content to prolong their fashion adolescence by dawdling in the don't-want-to-grow-up end of clothingi.e., T-shirts and jeans. Then there's Iranian-born Nima Taherzadeh, whose polished cocktail frocks and dressy coats have a sophistication that belie his age (25) and experience (he graduated from Parsons just two years ago). "I love to see women dress up, even for daytime," he says. "I like to design for women who look for effortless beauty, who want to dress up without trying too hard." Not trying too hard is key, which could be the reason that one of Taherzadeh's best sellers for fall was his structured silk coats. They look great with a dress, but you could toss one on over the aforementioned T-shirts and jeans and still feel polished. Nima is available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
