footing the bill

Corny as it sounds, for Venezuelan-born artist David Foote, dreams really do come true. Over the past six months, Foote has been transforming the pictures in his mind to paper (or sometimes just napkins), creating elaborate ink drawings that morph girls’ faces into each other. “I wanted to cram the portraits full of life,” he explained, “the concept of this series is transformation and the flow of energy.” Foote was exhibiting (and selling) the collection last night at Tribeca’s L Gallery in an effort to raise money for his next venture: a feature film. On hand were his muses, the socialites and designers (including Olivia Palermo and Antonia Thompson) who inspired the pieces. “I handpicked all the girls—[they're] my friends,” he said. “I love that there’s this mix of uptown, downtown, everything all together.”
