money bags

It was inevitable that Nancy Gonzalez, she of the seriously beautiful and seriously pricey crocodile, snake, python, and leather bags, would eventually cross the pond. Economic meltdown or not, she gets top dollar for the company's instantly recognizable creations (see paparazzi shots of Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez, etc. for reference). So for her line's official U.K. debut this week, she chose to sell at Harrod's. As her son Santiago, who presides over the company, put it, "When you think of luxury in the U.K, you think of Harrod's. It's not only an institution, but an icon. Luckily for us, we are really in a fantastic position where we can choose where we want to be." To commemorate the occasion, Gonzalez has created a bespoke bag for the department store's swishy personal shopping service, "By appointment only." The bag is big, gray, crocodile, and costs£3,750 (about $7,400)which hasn't prevented orders from coming in at a regular clip. Luxury 1, recession, 0.
