postal ballots

How closely is the American election being followed in the U.K.? Like it's a combination of the World Cup, the Man Booker Prize, the BAFTAs, and the Mercury Prize, that's how. A case in point: the very British Smythson of Bond Street has produced red-white-and-blue Democratic and Republican note cards, depicting either a donkey or an elephant. But despite creative director Samantha Cameron's political tiesher husband, David, is the leader of the country's Conservative Partythe idea came not from her, but via a Californian member of the Smythson team. The stationery will go on sale next month in both the U.S. and the U.K. Then it will just remain to be seen which has the higher sales figures.
