Beauty queens say the darndest things. At last night's cocktail party celebrating El Museo del Barrio's upcoming 2008 gala, we ran into Riyo Mori, the current Miss Universe and former Miss Japan. Mori gushed about her blue Roberto Cavalli frock ("It's my favorite color!") but when the subject of her rhinestone-studded sash came up, her mood visibly darkened. "It's tacky," she said with a scowl. "I mean, personally I think this is too much. I'm in a beautiful apartment surrounded by nice, beautiful people, why am I wearing this? It's like I feel like I'm out of place." Then, perhaps sensing that honesty might not have been the best policy in this instance, she hastily added, "But I'm very proud of wearing my sash, too."
