For most people, fire is a destructive force. For Louisiana-born, Los Angeles-based John McAllister, it's a muse. Working from thousands of news photos showing flames ravaging homes, forests, and fields across rural America, McAllister has spent the last six years creating a series of luminous, realistically rendered oil paintings of his burning obsession.
