Each season, the Brazilian shoe company Melissa matches up with a maverick designer, who then creates a pair of limited-edition shoes using the company’s trademark injection molding technique. This time around Melissa looked outside the fashion world for its collaborator, inviting a different kind of iconoclast to work with the company: avant-garde architect Zaha Hadid. Hadid recently collaborated with Chanel on a movable accessories pavilion, but this is her first style-related project to yield a product available to the masses. For her fledgling foray into the world of fashion, Hadid brought her signature flowing aesthetic to bear on a pair of sleek sandals, resulting in a different but still highly desirable kind of high-rise.
