actor/designer/writer: katie nehra’s unique career path

The actor turned titular designer is a pretty common species these days. Rarer, however, is the actor turned actual designer turned writer. In fact, Simone designer Katie Nehra is maybe the only extant specimen. Actress Nehra was last seen in “Red Angel”; designer Nehra can usually be spotted fluttering around L.A. in one of her punkishly gamine frocks. Writer Nehra, meanwhile, is starting pre-production on her first screenplay,” A Dirty Love Story.” “It’s like an R-rated ‘Singles’ of 2010, set in L.A.,” she explains. In the meantime, Nehra is hard at work on the Simone Spring ‘09 season. “My clothes have always been casual-sexy, but I’m going a little harder now. I was looking at this book ‘We Are Desperate,’ which is all about New York City in the eighties, and I got totally inspired by that kind of down-and-dirty glamour.” Obviously, Nehra is taking a role in “A Dirty Love Story”—perhaps some Simone pieces will be making cameos as well? “Seems likely. I’m all about synergy.”
