tucker: summer, solved
July 10, 2008 5:34 pm

I once read a reference to a study that claimed to show that children who grow up in cold climates do better on intelligence tests than those who grow up in warm ones; something to do with all the extra bits of clothing they have keep track of. Sounds dubious, but being Canadian and having been burdened with mitts, scarves, and various other layers of wool for most of my life, I didn’t question it too closely. Come summer, however, I don’t want to waste IQ points pondering any sort of complicated accoutrements. I want getting dressed to be effortless, the way putting on one of Gaby Basora’s Tucker dresses or blouses is effortless. Throw on one of her signature patterned silk dresses or blouses and you need very little else to feel ready to head out the door. And that’s something that even those of us accustomed to dealing with a whole lot more can easily get used to.
