On Our Radar: Lanvin Embroidered Tie Pins
I was barely over my love for Lanvin’s Fall 2010 womenswear when the label’s men’s accessories catalog found its way to my desk. Here we go again. I love the direction Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver, the steward of Lanvin’s menswear, are going. Their ready-to-wear had a more military cast than usual this Fall, but in the accessories, the duo picked up the more tribal beat Elbaz explored in women’s. Fuzzy patchwork bags and Frankenstein-ed ties—made of several different fabrics stitched together—play up the theme, but my personal favorites are these embroidered tie pins, whose totemic little faces put them somewhere between Mexican Day of the Dead dolls and shrunken heads. (Voodoo CEOs, note that they’re also available as cuff links.) One would look great tacked onto a dark, slim tie, but just as good, girls, pinned to the lapel of a boyfriend blazer.
