Mumbai has given the fashion world crossover stars like Manish Arora and Sabyasachi. Now it's enterprising young designer Karishma Shahani's turn. Her newly launched handbag line Princesse K fuses her Western influences—she studied in Monaco—with traditional Indian techniques and materials. Case in point: This sturdy, classic tote is crafted from satin and lace. At $100, it could be the biggest low-budget sleeper hit to come out of Mumbai since a certain movie about a game show contestant.
