The Cat’s Meow

We’ve loved animal prints for a long time, so we were pretty delighted when we ran across a whole host of spots in Tommy Ton’s streetwear trend report. Tommy’s gals favor the mix-and-match approach to prints, and this cardigan from DKNY perfectly captures that idea: The tiger stripe and leopard spot mash-up is a fun departure from your standard-issue jungle-cat prints. French Twist

DKNY is known for its New York style, but the latest accessory offerings from the label have a distinctly Gallic vibe—call it a je ne sais quoi. This French grain leather satchel, in graphic black, white, and red, nods to the season’s love of all things sixties, but our favorite feature has to be the detachable front pocket. It transforms into a sweet little bag of its own, complete with swingy shoulder strap. Two bags for the price of one? Mais oui! Click the image to shop.

Come Sail Away

Breton stripe shirts are a classic, but they’re having a particularly big moment right now. The cool girls love them (see Keira Knightley and, bien sûr, the French Voguettes), and so do designers. Donna Karan packed a number of nautical-striped pieces into her DKNY collection for pre-fall. Ditto Phoebe Philo at Celine. While there are scads of trendy takes on the shirt, we particularly love this Balenciaga top for its simplicity. Pair with jeans and flats and you’ll be ready for a stroll on the pier or the pavement. Click the image to shop.
