Clear Thinking: Plastic Shoes Get Revamped for 2010

Bathing Beauty

Patchwork Principle

We reported on Meadham Kirchhoff‘s collaboration with Topshop last week, and now that the collection is in stores, we’re trying to decide which piece we like best. Today, we’re leaning toward this peach lace, polka-dot, and sequin confection. It isn’t quite as goth as the navy and black frocks on offer, but still has the deconstructed look that Ben Kirchhoff and Ed Meadham have made their calling card. Click the image to shop.

Fatale Attraction

It may still be all about body-con dresses, but nothing oozes sex appeal like a still slinky but decidedly less obvious L.B.D. Fairly demure from the front, the deep back of this sequined Aqua frock makes exiting the room a memorable occasion, which means you’ll reach for it again and again. Click the image to shop.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Boho may’ve been one of the top trends of the Aughties (thanks in no small part to Sienna Miller and the sisters Olsen), but we recommend taking a page from Erin Wasson‘s playbook and going more L.E.S. than Hollywood for a nouveau take on the look. Stacks of jewelry and an artfully dissembled outfit are complemented best by a few well-placed feathers, and we have a hunch Ms. Wasson would approve of these peacock plumes courtesy of Jennifer Ouellette. We imagine tucking the barrette behind our ear so that the feathers dangle low in our tresses, or even wearing them as a makeshift bracelet or necklace. Click the image to shop.
