Bone Up

Jean Paul Gaultier, Lady Gaga, Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo—the high-fashion set has embraced skeleton chic once more. We can’t think of a more elegant iteration of the look than Alexander McQueen’s modern-classic skull scarf. After all, as our own Matthew Schneier pointed out last week, the origin of the trend was probably the designer’s Spring 2009 show. Click the image to shop.

Patchwork Principle

We reported on Meadham Kirchhoff‘s collaboration with Topshop last week, and now that the collection is in stores, we’re trying to decide which piece we like best. Today, we’re leaning toward this peach lace, polka-dot, and sequin confection. It isn’t quite as goth as the navy and black frocks on offer, but still has the deconstructed look that Ben Kirchhoff and Ed Meadham have made their calling card. Click the image to shop.

Great Lengths

Floor-skimming skirts are one of our top Fall must-haves (you can check out the full list here), but since they popped up on the Spring runways at Hermès, Chloé, and Marc Jacobs, to name a few, why not invest in a season-spanning maxi now? This sleek number from Elizabeth and James will work with a tank top during the warmer months and a cozy sweater come fall. We particularly love the button detailing on the back; a thoughtful addition that gives an otherwise simple design some Morticia Addams-inspired personality. Click the image to shop.
