Tighten Up

-------

From the runways to the sidewalks, chic girls the world over—including those our street-style maven Tommy Ton snapped in Australia —have been borrowing from the boys. Take a tip from these pros: It’s a perfect time to invest in a menswear-inspired accessory, like J.Crew’s cognac leather belt. With its classic-vintage style, it’ll break in beautifully and add a touch of boyish verve to your polished, new-minimal pieces. Tightening your belt—who said it has to be a bad thing? Blue Note

The fashion cycle never ceases to fascinate. Who, for example, could’ve guessed that nine years after Justin and Britney’s infamous matching denim ensembles at the 2001 American Music Awards, wearing the fabric head to toe would be oh-so-chic again? We love this chambray shirt from J.Crew for its winning utilitarian details and classic wash. Pair it with sleek, dark-rinse skinnies for a very 2010 version of the Canadian tuxedo. Urban Cowgirl: Western Wear Gets A Makeover

Tux Time

-------

We’ve always been a bit jealous of guys, for one reason: tuxedos. Nothing transforms a man from average to A-list like a perfectly fitting tux, and while a YSL Le Smoking has a permanent spot on our most-wanted list, we’ll happily settle for this slick J.Crew jacket for now. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better-made jacket for less than $100; we particularly love the navy version with black lapels—so chic. While we like the denim shorts and tights combo here, we’ll be pairing ours with sleeveless dresses for a decidedly 007 approach to work wear. Click the image to shop.
