Velvet Crush

-------

We’ve always loved velvet, so we were excited to see the lush fabric’s triumphant return on the Fall runways. A velvet dress or jacket is classic, of course, but this season, we’re after a sexy, slim pair of pants. These sweet trousers from Proenza Schouler are a surprising match for the mannish blazers we’ve been loving of late. Click the image to shop.

The Velvet Hour

As evidenced by our Style Hunter slideshow (which you can view here), velvet is big for Fall. Designers from Rachel Roy to Dolce & Gabbana are banking on the fabric’s lush appeal, and since we’ve always loved the stuff, we couldn’t be happier. We’d normally wait until the cooler months to even think of wearing velvet, but seeing Ginnifer Goodwin in one of Vionnet’s sexy cocktail numbers at a recent event for the label has us thinking about trying the trend out on the next cool evening. This dress from Vince is elegant and simple, and best of all, on sale for only $113. Click the image to shop.

Smooth Operator

In the warmer months I’m rarely seen without my trusty embroidered velvet slippers. I’d like something a bit more substantial for fall, which is why I can’t wait to slip my feet into these Alexander Wang no-lace oxfords. The sleek design will look sharp amid the sea of skyscraper heels at the fashion shows, but the fuzzy texture and slip-on design transport me right back to Palm Beach (mentally, that is).
