“My thesis collection, Assemble, is a collection of practical components for the different roles we play in life as we strive to achieve a balance between protection and expression, and a harmony between being part of a greater assembly and being ourselves.”

Tuyen Tran is a menswear-trained womenswear designer who approaches fashion as a form of product design, with its main functions being to enable movement, adapt to different environments, and enhance the wearer's happiness.

"My thesis collection, Assemble, is a collection of practical components for the different roles we play in life as we strive to achieve a balance between protection and expression, and a harmony between being part of a greater assembly and being ourselves. Laborer identities from the absolutes of white- to blue-collar ensembles are examined through cut and proportion. Within this world exists a spectrum of individuals who dress according to creative functions, including the scholar, artist, traveler, and socialite, among others.

"For me, comfort is the greatest luxury, as I believe in great clothes that last a lifetime. I strive to craft functional garments with practical pockets, adjustable straps, and tailored waistbands that can grow with the wearer over time. My garments are constructed of pure-blend fabrics that are able to biodegrade naturally."
