“As a menswear designer, I create a story inspired by geometric objects…My thesis collection, Keum, is inspired by the differentiation of light and shadows.”
Inseop Keum was born in Seoul, South Korea, and spent his early life studying science and math. A desire for expression led to an interest in fashion, and he moved to New York to pursue study in menswear at Parsons The New School for Design.
"As a menswear designer, I create a story inspired by geometric objects, the atmosphere of society, and internal mind-sets of people from certain times. My thesis collection, Keum, is inspired by the differentiation of light and shadows. The process began from draping a classic shirt, blazer, and coat. These garments were then photographed using a lamp in different locations. The timeless silhouettes were impacted by the basic foundation of the shapes. Multiple layers of silk chiffon were established in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional elements from shadows."
