Sarah Hoopes

“My thesis collection is inspired by my childhood farm memories. I explore the connection between horse and rider, a relationship characterized through movement that is felt and heard through rhythm.”

Sarah Hoopes was born and raised on an equestrian farm in small-town Wisconsin. As a teenager, she discovered garment-making and began to explore new ways to create and understand garments. While at Parsons, she has interned with John Varvatos, Calvin Klein Jeans, Tibi, and Donna Karan.

"My thesis collection is inspired by my childhood farm memories. I explore the connection between horse and rider, a relationship characterized through movement that is felt and heard through rhythm. Drawing a parallel between clothes and the wearer, each piece connects to the body through strapping closures and folding. Rhythmical movement is heard and felt through use of hidden chain."
