2002: Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2002
"Every single couture collection John Galliano has designed for Christian Dior deserves a place on this list, but I had to settle on Spring 2002. While it isn't necessarily my favorite as far as the clothes go, their theatrical elements—harlequin, sequins, pants that create the illusion of stilts underneath—seem to perfectly summarize Galliano's presentation approach. If that's not enough for you, can I offer up a few acrobats, ribbon dancers, drummers, and a dragon mask to scare you into agreeing? Not to mention how well it correlates with what was going on in my life at the time: a creepy childhood obsession with clowns. Yeah, that's the same."
