“My collection conveys the excitement of excavating things that have not been discovered,” Suh says. “It also creates a strange nostalgia for a place and a time one has never lived. This mood is expressed through silhouettes,
colors, and materials.”
Sophia Sung Suh was born in South Korea and immigrated with her family to the United States when she was 15. She took art classes at a local community college and was awarded a scholarship to attend Parsons The New School for Design. During her studies, she interned at TSE under creative director Brian Reyes. Suh's thesis, The Invisible Boundary, is inspired by deep-sea bioluminescent creatures and their fin movement. Suh is also a finalist in a competition with the Shoe Polytechnic in Milan, which will produce the shoes she designed for her thesis collection.
