I suppose it had to come to this: the writer and the movie star lying next to each other, half naked. It was her idea, getting a "couple's" massage, though I don't think either of us was prepared for how goofy we would feel when it finally came time to disrobe. (As if interviews and massages weren't fraught enough.) After a few seconds of hesitation, Charlize Theron says, "Oh, you've seen boobs before," and then peels off her T-shirt and lies on her stomach. It takes the edge off the awkwardness that the room is dimly lit and that there are two little old Thai ladies waiting to drive their heels and elbows into our flesh.
