The (Social) New York Walking Tour
Occasionally, it's essential to play tourist in your city of residence. I, for one, have never been to the statue of liberty and some Parisian's claim the same for the Tour Eiffel. Voila, the (social) New York City Walking Tour. Mapped out with foresight (and the best invites) one can see a little of the city and its characters en route to all the parties. Take one night last week as example:
The itinerary started at Barneys on Madison at 6 pm to buy some of Rogan's wares for Target. Next stop: British auction house Bonham's celebration of its new location and preview, then the flamenco themed opening of the Pronovias flagship on fifty-second street and afterward, back track just a little to Lever House for a party celebrating new works from Tom Sachs. (I overheard the Rainforest Foundation was also fun: James Taylor, Sting, Ziyi Zhang and Vivi Nevo - oh my!)
Sights may have included the following: Barney's Julie Gilhart offering Rogan a kiss of congratulations; and at Bonham's 580 Madison, Poppy Delevigne (right) in Kate Moss for Topshop jacket showing British support, Mark Seliger fresh from shooting Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige's Heart Of the City tour and Elise Overland back from six months of travel.
At the opening of Pronovias (New Yorkers for Children's fall gala sponsor), you would witness Karolina Kurkova, Ivanka Trump (top left) and Alexandra Richards Spanish dancing with fans in their hands. Finally, at Lever House, you find an enormous bronze cast Hello Kitty and Aby Rosen's (bottom left with Sachs) boys skateboarding on a (Tom Sachs) half pipe in the lobby.
That, dear reader, was all only in a matter of blocks. Just wait till the city wide (social) street tour, although we may decide to take the bus.
