More than three decades after Truman Capote's legendary black-and-white ball, duo-tone patterns are still the ultimate in elegance. At the launch party for Tiffany Dubin's Vintage Style book, guests such as Marina Rust and Beth Shepherd proved that flashy colors may come and go, but black and white are forever in fashion. Uma Thurman looked stunning at the VH1 Music Awards with a one-shouldered striped dress. And during the collections, China Chow and Courtney Love proved that actresses and rock stars can look just as chic as the models on the runway.
